Once Upon a River

Once Upon a River

by Diane Setterfield

Will’s Pick
I rarely come across a novel so atmospheric, gripping, beautiful, and imaginative as Diane Setterfield’s Once Upon a River, which hits every note perfectly. Many of you will remember Diane from her novel The Thirteenth Tale, and she returns with a story of unsurpassable caliber. This book is a rich, captivating story with a mystery at its heart. This is storytelling at its absolute finest, and Diane weaves secrets, folklore, and mysticism to create a truly glorious novel that will stun, entertain, and absorb you. Once Upon a River will sweep you into its world, leaving you breathless as you turn the book’s final pages.

My Favorite Half-Night Stand

My Favorite Half-Night Stand

by Christina Lauren

Jess’s Pick
I think it’s safe to admit that dating can be stressful. Especially with the countless number of apps and dating sites that are available to us at the tips of our fingers. In the just-released contemporary romance My Favorite Half-Night Stand, Christina Lauren introduces us to the lovable characters Millie Morris and Reid Campbell. The two protagonists are best friends (and occasional friends with benefits) who are looking for dates, via the internet, to their university black tie gala. When Millie creates a fake profile and accidentally matches with Reid on the site, things get a bit complicated, to say the least. Anyone who’s ever had an awkward exchange on Bumble, Tinder, or whatever they were swiping/matching with at the time will find Christina Lauren’s take on modern dating extremely relatable.

You’ll find answers to these questions and more in the Queen of Air and Darkness!

Watching You

Watching You

by Lisa Jewell

Ariele’s Pick
Lisa Jewell is one of my favorite authors of all time, and her most recent work is jaw-droppingly good. And I mean that the last page of Watching You will have your jaw on the ground and you’ll want to call your BFF to find out what they think of all the secrets and questionable actions that paint the pages of this gripping, twisty whodunit. Jewell is a master at building suspense, and the picture-perfect British setting and suspicious characters in this novel all make for a thriller that is surprisingly unique and perfect for picking up in the New Year.

The Accidental Beauty Queen

The Accidental Beauty Queen

by Teri Wilson

Abby's Pick
If you watch  Miss Congeniality every time you stumble across it, even if it’s already halfway through and is playing on Saturday afternoon network TV with 1,001 ads, then this book is for you. Think The Parent Trap in a beauty pageant setting—twin sisters who couldn’t be more different (they think) have to swap places, and, of course, hijinks ensue. There’s a hot guy, a French bulldog, and Twilight references. Put a tiara on this one and take it home!

Verity

Verity

by Colleen Hoover

Saimah's Pick
Are you a fan of thrillers or romance books? Have you ever wanted to read a novel that fulfills both of those cravings at once? Colleen Hoover’s Verity is the answer!

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer with financial troubles when she comes across the opportunity of a lifetime—to help bestselling author Verity Crawford complete the books in her successful series. Verity had a horrible accident, which prevents her from finishing the manuscripts, so her husband Jeremy hires Lowen to continue the series.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home to sort through Verity’s book notes and outlines. But when she stumbles upon a secret draft of what appears to be Verity’s autobiography—filled with bone-chilling revelations—Lowen has to decide if she should keep the autobiography hidden from Jeremy or show him the truth, which could alter his relationship with his wife forever.

Colleen Hoover is publishing this book independently, so she shared a bit more details about where/how you can get it.
