6 Fictional Characters That Would Be Great Wedding Dates

by  | June 10

So, the summer is a BIG time of year for weddings, obviously, and if you’re anything like me, then it may have crossed your mind about who you would bring as your plus-one. Do you want someone who will be on the dance floor with you all night? Or maybe you’d prefer someone who can charm your friends and family with their quirky one-liners. These are qualities that you really need to think about before inviting someone to spend a few hours at an open bar with (if there’s not an open bar, then you should decline the wedding invite entirely). So, in honor of wedding season, here are some fictional men who would make EXCELLENT dates (at least, in my opinion they would).

Bill Barnes would be the PERFECT date to bring to any wedding. He would definitely be a presence on the dance floor, and he FOR SURE would charm the socks off anyone you introduced him to. He’d also spend the entirety of your night together being your biggest hype man and telling you how great the bridesmaid dress you definitely did NOT choose looks on you. He also has tons of experience in the wedding planning business, so if the bride has a meltdown, he’ll know how to save the day.

If Josh learned one thing from his experience as an executive assistant at a publishing company, it’s definitely how to network. If you’re in desperate need of a man who knows how to schmooze his way through the hearts of the wedding party, then Joshua Templeman is your guy. He’ll also supply you with enough witty banter to keep you preoccupied for the duration of the night—and he doesn’t look half bad in a suit either.

So, for those of you who are VERY much against any event involving a buffet, then Ethan Thomas would be your ideal date. In fact, he wouldn’t dare blink twice at your request for a personal plate to be made for you so you can avoid all of those buffet germs (he’d probably ask to second that request, actually). Ethan also has experience in the wedding planning area due to his role as the best man in his brother’s wedding, so you’re going to want to keep him around.

Who doesn’t love a sexy Scottish accent? If you agree with this statement (if you don’t, then you should rethink a few things), then Nick from The Royal Runaway is your man of choice. He’s mysterious, muscular, and very handsome (and again, he has a Scottish accent). You’ll also have the perfect excuse for leaving the wedding early if it’s a snoozefest, since Nick’s a foreign spy and all. You can avoid having your pals whining about you bouncing early, because “sorry my date needs a ride to the airport for the sake of the world might be at stake” sounds a lot better of an excuse than “I’m actually going home to watch Netflix with my dog.”

Two words: Peter Kavinsky. Peter is the ultimate date for ANY event (not to show favoritism on this list of cute men, obviously), but to stick with this theme, he’d also be a grade A plus-one for a wedding. He’d probably even come with your favorite Korean yogurt smoothie so you can snack on it during the transition from the ceremony to the reception.

Let’s be real, a future professional hockey player is any girl’s dream wedding date (well, at least for me). Garrett Graham will definitely be able to keep you on your toes if you bring him as your date. His sarcasm, good looks, and athleticism are enough to keep any gal preoccupied for the evening (when the toasts get boring, you can just stare longingly at each other!).
