5 Hygge AF Bookstagram Accounts To Follow This Winter

You’re in a small log cabin in the middle of the woods. It’s snowing outside but you’re warm and toasty; after all, you’ve got tons of soft flannel blankets, a warm cup of cocoa, and a crackling fire. You have nothing to do except wait out the storm with a good book and the people you love around you. Kind of like waking up inside of this Tumblr.

That feeling your feeling? We don’t really have a word for it —”cozy” sort of does the trick, but the Danes have a special word for that warm, intimate, safe feeling: hygge. (Pronounced hue-gah or hoogah, depending on who you ask, but I watched this entire video and I’m still not sure.)

According to VisitDenmark,

“In essence, hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. The warm glow of candlelight is hygge. Friends and family – that’s hygge too. There’s nothing more hygge than sitting round a table, discussing the big and small things in life.”
