Road winding through hills and trees

Stephenie Meyer’s long-awaited Midnight Sun finally has a release date: August 4! This Twilight companion novel will center on the events of the first book of the saga, but present them from Edward Cullen’s perspective. And we can’t stop speculating about what kind of thoughts fill up that vampire head of his. Are they the stoic, mysterious type that complement his personality? Perhaps they’re philosophical, contemplative thoughts which only an immortal being might have. Or maybe they’re of a more obsessive, repetitive nature, something like “Bella, blood, Bella, blood.”

On her website, Meyer reflects: “[T]he idea of letting Edward have his chance to speak stuck with me. I couldn’t shake it. I found myself thinking his words in the middle of the night and jotting down phrases he would use while I was waiting in line at the post office…” However, she abandoned the project after the manuscript was leaked 12 years ago. We’re so glad it’s coming now. NOBODY LEAK IT THIS TIME.

Fans first found out that something was up last week after Meyer posted a countdown clock on her website, which ended up crashing from all the traffic—that fact alone should tell you just how excited fans are for this new release!

Here’s what else Twitter has to say:
